Best Tag Heuer Watch Under $1000

Updated on March 5, 2013

For over 150 years TAG Heuer have been making premium quality Swiss watches, and the brand has been a strongly desired status symbol among men pretty much ever since. There are few brands which can boast an army of enthusiasts and collectors as large as TAG, I can only really think of Rolex, Cartier, and Breitling, and the major difference between those brands and TAG is that they are out of reach to most people. A TAG on the other hand produce a variety of fantastic quality watches which can be had for less than $1000, although it does also release highly exclusive higher-end timepieces too.

When you buy a TAG you know that you are getting a top-quality precision engineered watch which will look as fantastic in thirty years time as it does now, just so long as you service it occasionally and treat it with a little respect. You are also getting a watch which will always have liquidity, the resale market for TAG Heuer's has been strong for much longer than I have been alive, and I suspect it will remain just as strong for long after I have passed.

Why Buy A TAG Heuer

- Genuine Swiss quality at affordable prices.

- A strong resale market with lot's of collectors.

- They look fantastic!

- Each come with a two year warranty.

- Service with TAG and your warranty is extended by one year after every service!

- If they break, the parts are typically easy to come by.

I have two TAG watches now, one which cost less than $1000, one which cost a fair bit more than $1000, but both have served me well and continue to serve me well. My oldest one is almost ten years old now, and apart from a couple of scratches on the screen it has never faulted, never failed to keep precision time, and still looks as good as it did when I bought it. My next watch will probably be a TAG too. Below I introduce you to the best TAG Heuer watches available for under $1000. Basically you are restricted to their 'Formula 1' and 'Aquaracer' range, in order to buy a TAG Heuer Carrera you would need to find a lot more money. That's not a problem though because both of those ranges happen to be fantastic!

TAG Heuer Men's Formula 1 Grande

TAG Heuer's best known entry-level range is the Formula 1 range, offering numerous fantastic designs, most made from top quality stainless steel and some depicting official F1 team logos. I had the pleasure of holding on to a TAG Heuer F1 watch for a few months after a friend allowed me to care for his while he went travelling, it was such a pleasure to wear on my wrist and I may well make a Formula 1 my next investment. My personal favorite from the range is this stunning sleek TAG Heuer Formula 1 Grande, a simple yet striking black and white design.

Made from high quality stainless steel and featuring a typical precision-engineered Swiss made mechanism, your TAG F1 Grande should last you for decades if you look after it well. This particular model is also among the most affordable of TAG Heuer watches with an RRP of $1100, it can typically be found on Amazon for a little less than $800 with free shipping, you won't beat that price. I've linked to other popular TAG Formula 1 watches below.

TAG Heuer Men's Silver Aquaracer

Now, I've cheated a bit here because it is very rare that you find a TAG Heuer Aquaracer for under $1000. They are however often priced at just a little over one thousand dollars on Amazon (where I found them at their cheapest). I made the decision to feature these beautiful timepieces because I believe that anybody who is willing to spend $1000 on a TAG watch should consider adding $150 to $200 to their budget and walking away with a timepiece which I believe will hold more of its value over time. To the right you can find my personal favorite, a silver aquaracer with a silver dial, a simple traditional date watch which is water resistant to 300 meters, this baby uses a truly classic and timeless design.

The exact same watch is available with variations in color. The Aquaracer range typically has an RRP of $1800 but don't let that put you off, if buying from Amazon you can buy this watch for just $1095 with free shipping(at the time of writing). Prices fluctuate a lot, but if you can buy this watch at somewhere around that price then you have yourself a real bargain. Variations of this design are linked to below.

TAG Heuer Carrera Under $1000?

If you have stumbled across this page while looking for a TAG Heuer Carrera for under $1000 then you frankly have no chance of picking up a new Carrera for that price, the cheapest prices that I have seen for a brand new Carrera have been a little over $1500 for their basic models. If you really want a Carrera and are limited to a one thousand dollar budget then you will have to look towards brokers of used designer watches, or indeed keep an eye out for used Carrera watches on eBay. In the capsule below you will find listings for TAG Heuer watches on eBay, click through to see more!
